Colombia Habla U.S. Organization Condemned Maduro’s Threats Against Former President Uribe: “Enough Is Enough”
Colombia Habla U.S., a nonprofit organization created to “spread the reality of Colombia and work tirelessly to inform about the evident social and economic destruction throughout the country,” issued a statement expressing its rejection of the recent attack by Nicolás Maduro against former Colombian President Álvaro Uribe Vélez, after Uribe called for an international military intervention against the Venezuelan regime.
Uribe called for an international military intervention “to remove the dictatorship” of Maduro during an event in the border city of Cúcuta, in support of Edmundo González Urrutia and María Corina Machado, leader of the Venezuelan opposition.
“In a blatant violation of democratic principles, the world has witnessed yet another serious offense by the Nicolás Maduro regime. After more than two decades of poverty and suffering inflicted by the corrupt administrations of Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro, the Venezuelan people overwhelmingly elected Edmundo González as their legitimate president,” the statement reads.
The U.S.-based organization strongly condemned “the recent direct threats made by Maduro against former Colombian President Álvaro Uribe Vélez. These threats are not directed solely at one individual; they strike at the very core of democracy, freedom, and national sovereignty,” the letter states.
