Elected Officials and South Florida Leaders to Gather in Support of Former

President Álvaro Uribe Vélez

DORAL, FL — The Colombian community in South Florida, together with local and state

elected officials, will gather in support of former President Álvaro Uribe Vélez as a final

ruling on his appeal is set to be announced this Tuesday, October 21 by the Tribunal Superior

of Bogotá.

Doral Mayor Christi Fraga, Doral Councilman Rafael Pineyro, State Representative David

Borrero, Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez, representatives from the Office

of U.S. Senator Ashley Moody and the Office of U.S. Senator Rick Scott, and a representative

from the Office of the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, Rosie Cordero-Stutz, along with other

South Florida leaders, will meet at Downtown Doral Park, in front of Doral City Hall, to express

their unwavering support for President Uribe and to raise their voices in defense of justice and

democracy.

The press conference will be led by Fabio A. Andrade, Commissioner of Weston and Director

of Centro Democrático en el Exterior, the political party founded by President Uribe.

“President Uribe worked tirelessly to protect and rebuild Colombia during its darkest years of

terrorism. He has been the wall that has stood against the advance of the left, and his legacy of

strength and democratic values continues to inspire millions of Colombians,” said Fabio A.

weaponized against him, we stand firmly by his side in defense of truth, justice, and freedom.”

The South Florida Colombian community and supporters of democracy are invited to attend and

stand in solidarity during this decisive moment for Colombia’s future.
